APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR/MD/VICE PRESIDENT

Siam Makro Plc (MAKRO) announced it had held board's meeting no.1/1997 on January 2, 1997 and was resolved as follows: At the meeting, Mr.J.C.A. De Yon was appointed as director, managing directorand vice-president, effective from February 1, 1997. He will succeed Mr.Anthonio Leonell Steel who had resigned from these positions due to health problem which should need a prolonged medical treatment. Mr.J.C.A. De Yon, presently attaining a position as the MD in a Korean-based Makro's business, has a long expirience in Makro's businesses in many countries.
