SUBMISSION OF F/S AND EXPLANATION FOR PROFIT CHANGE

(Translation) 1 November 2000 Subject : Submission of Financial Statement for the 3rd Quarter of 2000 To : Director and Manager The Stock Exchange of Thailand We hereby submitted the financial statements of Siam Makro Public Company Limited for the third quarter ended 30 September 2000 in which the company has reported the net profit for the quarter of Baht 235.8 million, 61% higher than the same quarter last year. As a result, the net profit for the first nine months of 2000 was Baht 713.3 million, up 123% over the same period in 1999. Substantial increase in net profit for the third quarter of this year were due to the followings: 1. Increase in total sales from the same period last year of approximately 5%. 2. Increase in gross margin to 8.4% of sales compared to 7.4% last year. This mainly due to the successful 11th anniversary promotion campaign and the change in non-food sales participation which was higher than food. 3. Increase in service and other income, net of the reduction in interest income by 20.4% over last year. 4. Increase in selling and administrative expenses was mainly the expenses of new stores opened during the year and the pre-opening expenses of store to be opened in the fourth quarter.
